Railway History, Centenary Lounge – Project Blog

Allow yourself to be transported back to the golden age of travel with Centenary Lounge. Their journey started back in 2009 when Aasia Baig opened her first café at Birmingham Moor Street on the centennial anniversary of the stations opening by the Great Western Railway, the GWR.

Ever since then, they have expanded in both 2012 and 2019, opening in Birmingham’s Snow Hill Station and Worcester’s The Cross, respectively.

The fabulous founder, Aasia Baig, began her own railway journey all the way back in 2001 when she and her husband opened their first retail store in Solihull Station. In 2003, after extensive restoration, the Birmingham Moor Street reopened and by this time, Aasia was looking for an empty unit in which she could open her very own café. This is where Aasia fell in love with the station and her company has been growing ever since.

We were approached by Aasia recently to assist her with our services such as website design, franchising, menus, posters, postcards, SEO, and more.

For the website, we wanted to make sure that we stuck with the theme of railways and their wonderful history, so we delved into their previous website as much as we could and pulled each of the contents. This helped us to ensure we fully understood the business and what their target audience was, so we could recreate the perfect website.

Their brand-new website contains imagery of all three of their stores as well as their yummy products and offers. On top of this, there are gifs and smaller images located throughout the website that stick with the theme of railways and trains.

The award-winning business also has its own franchising opportunities available. Centenary Lounge is currently offering multiple revenue streams for both delivery and in-store collection. This can range from gift experiences and vouchers to subscriptions and hampers. Did you know that Centenary Lounge has their very own range of replica GWR-branded giftware, suitably named Recreations?

Each store has its own unique menu, so each menu should be uniquely designed. That is the rule we have followed with Centenary Lounge. When designing the menus, we made sure that they followed each of the brand guidelines, therefor all the little things were matching such as the font, colours, backgrounds, and more.

It is also important for a website to keep their blog up to do, so we have been assisting Centenary Lounge by writing up and editing two to three blog posts a month for them. Blogs help to push their website higher up the search engine rankings and give their website more credibility.
